Trying to help my neighbor with his business venture (?) .

Apparently, he sells stuff via a web site and the products get dropped shipped
to the buyer. He downloads a sales list each month , which itemizes the products
sold, sales price per item, etc. (approx. 15 columns of data), and he wants to
compare the current month sales to the previous months sales to what new
items have sold. Then, he wants a way to determine what new items were
sold in the current month and add those items in another sheet, said sheet listing
the items sold the prior month. The idea is to grow the 2nd sheet to build a
listing of items sold during the year.

A description ( very condensed ) of how the sheet looks is as follows: Col. B
should indicate ("new" or something similar) if there is a new item in Column C compared to Column A (prev. months list).

The list that he downloaded contained 700+ items, many are duplicates. I sorted
the list, manually deleted all the duplicates, thus leaving a list of single items totalling
97 items. Also set up a column to provide a count of sales for each product which he wanted in addition to various other totals / data counts.

I've tried to come up with a solution comparing Col. A to C and the reverse, using
array formulas (which I'm limited in knowledge of how to set up) and various
other functions. Have only met with partial success so I'm asking for help.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

At a first glance this seems more like a data base issue but to be honest the description is not clear enough to be sure.

For example
Quote:
he wants to
compare the current month sales to the previous months sales to what new
items have sold.

What does this mean?

I think you and he should sit down and write up a detailed statement of requirements and get back to us. We would need to know why he has duplicates in the download, etc, etc.
