|
|
Good afternoon everyone,
Is anyone aware of a decent tutorial for the Oracle Report Builder? Specifically, the charts or graphs? The vast majority of the ORB makes perfect sense, but the charts feel very clunky when I work with them.
I'm able to go into "edit mode" and adjust the X and Y axis, and make minor changes, but I'm really confused by the data ranges and naming conventions and that sort of thing.
I'll keep searching the forum, but if anyone has a link, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you,

UPDATE: After searching around the forum and the rest of the internet, I still haven't found a good tutorial.
I did find a post that was talking about how the charts in ORB are exactly the same as in Calc, which helped. I've managed to build a working chart in Calc, which allows me to select data range by cells.
Is anyone familiar with how to do this in ORB?
Still searching...

Thank you r4zoli, this is about what I was looking for.
I've noticed that the Base version of the charts is certainly lacking compared to Calc. I haven't tried placing the chart inthe header yet, so I'll try that next.
I'll post some more after I try a few things.

This is one of the reasons why I always use spreadsheets for reporting. Spreadsheets can calculate and chart anything you throw at it and the layout capabilities are more than sufficient.
This "report builder" is another source of shame. _________________ Rest in peace, oooforum.org

After a lot of searching and trying, I have to agree with you, Villeroy.
I've managed to make some pretty nice reports with the ORB, but when charts come into it, the ORB is really lacking. I think that if I had simple data the report builder could handle the chart, but this report is 48 fields of data for about 50 people, and the ORB can't take it for a chart.
With regard to Calc and exporting from a query, how does one go about assigning that functionality to the query? Or is this a manual process?
Thank you,
