I was working with base and writer open when I switched to Thunderbird. When I close Thunderbird base and writer were closed. I lost about 30 minutes of work in the Writer file but can read the file. The odb is unreadable. I tried rebooting, deleting an odb.lck file and copying the file to another name but I cannot open the file. No messages, it just doesn't open.

I'm having the same problem. Specifically, I can open the database file, but when I try to view a table or query, the program quits. When I open the file again, the program goes through the document recovery process, but then when I try to open a table, the same thing happens -- the program just quits. I've tried resetting my user profile, but that didn't seem to accomplish anything. Please help.

The database was recovered. I have learned that the issue here is not the program, but corruption in the database file. So the problem can be solved by simply going to an earlier backup.

This is a pretty large and very important database that I need to open. I'm getting basically the same errors the others are getting and I do not want to lose a day's or more worth of work (I use OOo 3.3 on OS X Lion and have Time Machine running every few days to do backups). I await your detailed instructions...

Hi - I'm having the same problem. I'm using a Macbook and everytime I try to open my .ODB file it opens in writer instead of database. Please help.
