|
|
I purchased Open Office when I purchased a new HP Laptop in Feb. of 2011.
OO installed just fine, haven't had a problem until this past week. All of a sudden the option to 'Save As' does nothing. It no longer opens the box in which I can give my document a name and select the folder I want to save it in.
I am in the middle of a legal situation where I have to write letters to certain State Agencies and a Judge. I was in the middle of the letter to the Judge when I had to save my work to attend to something else when I discovered this non-functioning option.
I have tried using the 'Help' section, but nothing works. Plus I cannot find 'Load/Save'.
Can someone enlighten me?
Oh, I don't know if this is related, but it also seemed that when I would click on the Desktop icon to open OO, my screen goes black and the resolution would change and the colors disappear so it looks like it is a negative without me changing anything. It doesn't happen when I use any other program unless I already have OO open. |

OOo is a free download, are you sure that you aren't talking about MSO? Anyway, your version is probablay corrupted. Get the real OOo here: www.openoffice.org or LibreOffice at http://www.libreoffice.org/download
Copy/paste your text to a program that does work, like Notepad, then uninstall and install the real thingĀ®. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista

Yeah, I know it is free. When I say I purchased, I meant I purchased a copy of it on a CD, so if I had a problem I could re-install.
Can't find the CD since I moved recently. I was hoping it was just a setting that got changed and it maybe be an easy fix by checking into where the settings were instead of having to uninstall & re-installing every time there is a problem.
Telling me it may be corrupt means nothing to me because I am new to the program.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention, though.

Well, some websites ask money for a link to a download site, it's not even illegal.
There are several options.
- Your user profile is corrupted, that happens sometimes. Resetting your user profile can solve a lot of problems. Click here for help how to do that.
- Your installation is corrupt. Run the install file again and choose the option Repair install when it's offered. If you lost the CD, you'll have to buy it again or download an install file. Better copy the install file to your hard disk anyway. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista
