I decided to give Linux a try . Really like to be as much microsoft free as possible.

But I have strugled for quite some days now and need help please.

I'm using Linux Debian Xandros 2.5 deluxe on a HP Vectra VL 500Mhz 128MBram
including openoffice.org 1.1 .0 word processor

I need to install some additional langues for spell check.
Found:
http://ooodi.sourceforge.net/OOodi.html

I run into problem during installation of OOodi2
using these instructions:
http://ooodi.sourceforge.net/OOodi.html#cmdline
Performing an installation

epm (Easy Package Manager) is used to create all binary distribution formats. To install the portable distribution:

* Unpack the archive in a scratch directory (/tmp for example).
tar -xzvf ooodi-0.60-i386-linux.tar.gz -C /tmp/

* A root, run the script /tmp/ooodi.install. variant).
# /tmp/ooodi.install

* To bypass the Are you sure/do you accept this licence questions, use:
# /tmp/ooodi.install now

* A script to remove the software is also installed (/etc/software/ooodi.remove).

Seem to install properly.
But got stuck and couldent find any information so far about this problem when i tried to run OOodi :
$ OOodi

(process:2015): Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library

(process:2015): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale.

(OOodi:2015): libglade-WARNING **: could not find glade file '/usr/local/share/OOodi2/OOodi.glade'
OOodi: main.c:1068: main: Assertion `xml != ((void *)0)' failed.
Aborted

-- shell no2 --
user1@CompLinux1:~$ cd /usr/local/share/OOodi2/
user1@CompLinux1:/usr/local/share/OOodi2$ ls
doc pixmaps
user1@CompLinux1:/usr/local/share/OOodi2$

I have used Solaris Unix some little , but I'm far from an expert and not familiar with Linux yet

Could someone pleas give me some clues how to solve my problem,
It might be that i have done some very basic misstakes.
Or , that It's better to try to uninstall OOoodi2 and try to follow instructions about how to manually install new language files for spell check etc,

Or, might it be that my OS or Linux core not are installed in a correct way?
If , then how to check it upp? Are there any clever diagnostic programs ?
ok , sorry , I'm affraid that my last question might be out of topic for this forum, but i'm thankfull for tips and clues if possible.

Thankfull for help.
Regards Tony.

Still have problems.
In lack of replies i decided to try to make a new install of OOo_1.1.2 in a new directory.

PROBLEM:
:/tmp/OOo_1.1.2_LinuxIntel_install_sv# ./setup -net
glibc version: 2.3.2
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
./setup: cannot connect to X server :0.0

Guess my problems are to odd or something ,, but still hope for some to give me clues how to proceed.

Have any one of you been able to get OOo1.1.2 to be up and running in Debian Xandros 2.5? or had similar problems as i desribe ?

Rgrds

well ,,,
For whoever it might be of interest.

problem solved ,,,

Struggling around by my self ,, sadly to say not one single answer
I found out a way to get spell check to work in Openoffice.org1.1.0 even with languages that not yet have been implemeted in Xandros Networks automatic installer handler and connected source and links,

Found My-spell dict and hyph files. (Aspell and Ispell seem to not be able to use)
And
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/garryknight/linux/oodict.html
gives quite good istallation information.

Directory for OpenOffice.org My-Spell dictionaries
/usr/lib/openoffice/share/dict/ooo
Included information about installed DICT and HYPH in the dictionary.lst file

Still need to figure out how to set and create locales in a correct way.
Some Shell - Console warnings still there about it ,, but spell check seem to work fine now anyway.
