To get the data range menu, double click the chart on an empty part of the chart background. A frame should appear around the perimeter of the chart. Right click an empty part of the chart background. You will then get the menu with the data ranges option.
I can't get a chart data table to show. If the above doesn't work or someone else knows otherwise, I'd delete the chart & create another one. |

Thanks,
as you have mentioned the menu that appears when you right click on the chart background, has "Chart Data Table" option instead of "Data Ranges", Dont know why?
This is a chart that contain lots of datas and many charts are created using this data. Even we redo the chart again and again the problem is not solved.
I do not know how to attah a image here, otherwise i would have pasted the screen shot

I have the same problem.
I am using OpenOffice.org 3.4.0 A00340m1(Build:9590) - Rev. 1327774 in Windows 7 64-bit. I am running OpenOffice.org Calc.
If I create a new chart from scratch, then I can successfully double click on it, then right click, and I see the "Data Ranges..." menu item right under "Chart type...".
However, if I copy that chart to another location on the same sheet, then I can NOT access the "Data Ranges..." menu item in the COPY. The copied chart seems to have its own data embedded inside it, and I see "Data Table..." right under "Chart type..." instead of "Data Ranges...".
I spent many minutes formatting my chart nicely and now I just want to copy it and make a few changes, including the data ranges. How is this use case supported in OpenOffice.org?
One workaround I found is to put every chart in its own sheet and copy it by copying the sheet, but that seems terrible.
I have never had this problem before; I think copying charts worked fine before I upgraded to 3.4.0. I forget what version I had before.
