I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you're asking. If you are trying to open a file sent to you by someone in OpenOffice format, then you will need OpenOffice to open it. If that's not what you meant, please feel free to reply, perhaps expanding your request with a little extra detail. Thanks. _________________ Noho ora mai, ka kite ano.

Could you tell us the name of the ile you downloaded. The OpenOffice package for Windows comes either as a zip file, and would have a name tha looks like this, OOo_1.1.3rc_Win32Intel_install.zip, or as an exe, with a name like this, OOo_1.1.3rc_Win32Intel_install.exe. The exe is a self-extractor, double-clicking it should start the process for you. The Zip file requires you to have zip software like WinZip or ZipGenius, in order to extract the files. Either way, once extracted, just look in the newly-created directory for setup.exe, and double-click that. Did the file you downloaded have a name similar to the ones I've mentioned? _________________ Noho ora mai, ka kite ano.

You can actually tell it not to use Java. The Java Runtime Engine is needed to supply certain additional functionality. I would strongly recommend getting it, from here, but you don't actually NEED it to run OpenOffice. _________________ Noho ora mai, ka kite ano.

You're welcome! Answering your post reminded me that there was a new JRE to download, so you did me a favour. _________________ Noho ora mai, ka kite ano.
