I'm currently running 1.9m54, without major drama. I have a client that is still running 1.1.0, so I'm thinking it's time to update her, althuogh obviously not to a developers' build. Since the official release of 1.1.3 seems to be interminably delayed, I thought I would download the 1.1.3RC. I am doing so, but am curious to know why the 1.1.3RC install.exe for Win32 weighs in at 45 MB versus 1.9m54's 68. What's missing from 1.1.3RC, or new in 1.9m54, that could account for a 50% size jump? Or is the 45MB really too god to be true?

I think the good people behind OOo are playing with compression, I read something about 7-zip etc. somewhere on www.openoffice.org? I don't think anything is missing, it is just a bug fix.

Thanks, Kaaredyret. I didn't want to try and install it on the client's machine only to discover it was missing some important elements.

It is indeed a 7-zip self-extracting archive. The installation files takes up 141MB of disk space, uncompressed. I compressed those files with ZIP (max) using Total Commander, resulting in a 66MB archive.

It's actually a big step forward. Since OOo isn't patched like StarOffice is, the installation download needs to be as small as possible, for dial-up users to be able to update regularly. Well done to the development tream on this one!
