i need to type in an equitation with the variable "im" for imports.
unfortunately the "im" stands for imaginary part. this means
that its replaced by the symbol. how i can i write "im"? |

Just like you did in the post above: quoted.
If you want it in italics (as is the default for data labels in Math), use the ital modifier.
ital "im" |
