|
|
Calc recognizes the "@" symbol and treats email addresses specially.
I am a poor typist with 50 addresses to enter, so I need to correct my typing after leaving the field, preferably without reentering the entire address. However Calc won't let me do this as I can in most fields. The whole address is highliighted and when I try to edit the whole address string is replaced.
Is there a cell format that I can use that will let me treat these addresses as plain text for purpose of data entry?
I know there must be but I don't know how to look it up in HELP, so you help please!
P.S. Yes I could do this all in a CSV text file but that would just be a work around :-) _________________ NOT a Techie anymore ... |

Why do you use a calculator program for list keeping?
Have a look at Tools>AutoCorrect. There you should find some setting to turn off URL recognition.
This tiny program is a very good and simple tool to keep lists in plain text files: http://csved.sjfrancke.nl/ _________________ Rest in peace, oooforum.org

Thank you for the suggestion! I turned OFF URL recognition and the existing email address fields are still greyed out and "recognized" ... but new entries are treated as plain text so more convenient to correct.
As to using Calc, I like to enter the data using software that recognizes fields, is something I already have, & will save as a csv file for upload to a mailing list.
Seemed reasonable at the time :-) _________________ NOT a Techie anymore ... |

| Use Format-->Clear Direct Formatting to cleanup the left overs. |
