This is what i did:
=COUNTIF(Retail.B14:b350;"BURT")
but then it does not read.. comes out 0. The data to be read comes from another sheet of the same file which is Retail. the serial numbers searched are like this:
BURT1234
BURT2345
BURT6789
TON1234
TON3456
TON5678
what i want to count id how many "BURT" are there.
need help badly for a newbie... thanks again. |

try
| Code: | | =COUNTIF(Retail.B14:b350;"BURT.*") |
your formula is looking for BURT as the entire content of the cell
(BURT period asterisk) - looks for burt and anything else after burt
(period asterisk) - should also be added before BURT if there are any occassions where there are any odd characters appearing at the start of the cell contents
if this has solved your problem please add 'solved' to the title of this thread by editing your first post |
