Hi all, newb here.
I have tried over and over to install OOo on Windows7 Pro but with no luck.
Every attempt has given rise to an 'ERROR 1935' window, which is too short to give the whole of the error message! (Useful). The beginning of the message is thus:-

ERROR 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly.
'Policy.9.0.Microsoft.VC90.CRT,
PublicKey Token = "1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",
version = 9.0.21022.8",
Processor Architecture = "x86",
Type = "win32-policy",
Please refer to.....

where the message ends.
I have tried with and without Java, renamed mscoree.dll to mscoreebak.dll and back.
I have even tried Open Office 3.1.1, but this also failed.
I have tried it with and without a firewall (Comodo), no joy. I'm stumped.

It is not desperate as it has installed OK on my WindowsXP machine, but it would be nice to have it on both.

Any ideas?????? Anyone?????

Thank you thomasjk, that link you sent gave the required answer, as in:-

"error 1935 happens when a service is disabled or missing and sure enough if I go to services.msc I can see that 'Windows Modules Installer' is missing."

I had disabled it somehow, and by simply re-enabling it, OOo loaded no problem.

Thanks again, and I hope this helps others out also.

Its a very irritating error, i also faced this error many times but i fixed it.
Following are the various ways you can implement to fix error 1935

1. Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework
2. Perform a Full Virus Scan
3. Full Scan your Registry
4. Reregister Windows Installer
5. Check System Files for Corruption
