Why do these red marks appear in certain spreadsheets? It seems as if they are locked somehow. I can't write any further than the cell seemingly allows one to do. If I try to write more, these marks pop up. What to do?

unfortunately I couldnt see the screenshot but it in calc the cells show as much as fits in a cell, you only see all the text if the next cell is empty.
However you have options:
use Format/cell/alignment/automatic line break
and /or expand the cell vertically - horizontally by clicking and dragging at the edge of the bars at the edge of your sheet _________________ carl

I can see the picture (after 20 seconds or so )... The red marks look like "U". The cells looks more like a writer table.
Oops... Looking closely again to your post, indeed this is a writer table. So maybe posting this in the OpenOffice.org Writer Forum is a good way to get more suitable answers.
Anyway, unfortunately for you (but fortunately for me ).... I haven't exprerienced your problem so I can't help you. Sorry  _________________ # : - ) |
