The layout is much like:
Quote N 1

Some comments
...............
.............
.........
Quote N 2
some other comments
......................
.............
...........
Quote N 3
.........................
some comments

Thanks
But those lengthy quotes are in the book body, not just notes
I need them to be numbered form 1 until last number
and I need to make references to those quotes in other pages by indicating their number. |

| Use a Number Range field with an initial value of 1. Insert > Fields > Other > Variable tab. Because it defaults to Drawing it's easiest to use that but you can use Text if you want to. |

@mgroenescheij
I did go to Format --> Bullets and Numbering .. Options
I didnot know how
@JohnV
Thanks
Your tip worked very well
Now, if in another page, I make reference to a quote saying: " for further informations, see quote X..."
All I have to do is to insert a cross-reference using the variable's name
Is that correct? |

Is that correct? | If you select Text or Drawing you will get at list of quotes to select from and you can then reference to Numbering. |
