Some people have been complaining about the vector arrow being way to high when typing for example "vec a" in math, or "dot a". There was a fix available, namely replacing sm641mi.dll by the one that can be found here http://www.dmaths.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=26

The problem is this sm641mi.dll only works for OOo 1.0.1.
And as the guys of openoffice.org are not taking this bug too seriously, i decided to fix the sm641mi.dll of the latest stable build of openoffice (1.0.3.1) myself.

Here is the file for those who need it:

http://users.skynet.be/bk230772/sm641mi_OO_1031.zip

Put this file in c:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org1.0.3\program

I hope i could help someone out with this.

Hi, I've the same problem with all decorations: tilde, hat, bar, circle...
I'm a statistician and this problem is really a great one... How can I fix it in OOO 1.0.2 italian version running under linux Mandrake 9.1?

Hi there,

here's how i fixed it using some advise from the bug report replies:

you have to open sm641mi.dll with a hexeditor and replace every instance of "StarSymbol" by "OpenSymbol". In version 1.0.3.1 there were 4 instances of starsymbol.

But then again, do they use dll's in linux?
