Certain very basic shortcut keys for Writer do not work with Mac OS 10.7.3 or presumably with any Mac OS. Instead I am forced to use the Option key (much smaller).instead of the Command key and/or Ctrl key. Egs: Command+Arrow left. Alleged effect "Go to beginning of word" Cursor goes to beginning of line. Clt+Arrow up, Alleged effect: "Move cursor to beginning of previous para" It goes one line up. Shift+Ctrl+Arrow Up. Alleged effect "Select to beginning of para" It goes one line up. Shift+Ctrl+arrow down operates a Mac Mission Control function. End goes to end of document, not end of line. Shift+Home selects not to beginning of line but start of document.

As a professional writer trying to convert from MS Word, I absolutely prefer to use the shortcuts as advertised. Do any Mac Users have any easy workarounds? I can't even seem to create a Macro for the simple task of using the command key to move one word left or right.

I think you can go to the begining/end of a word by using the shift key with the arrows.
(I am now on Windows)

You may want to visit the new forum, Mac section (see link in my sig).
Maybe you should use another version of OOo - NeoOffice is custom made for the Mac.
