I just installed Openoffice but it won't detect Java.
I have checked and there is a follder on C: called
Java
JRE
No matter what folder I point OOo to it says it does not contain a java environment. There are files in these folders I mentioned???
Windows XP with all updates and SP3
Home and Student
Anyone advice? Thanks for taking the time to read. jack |

Hello, and sorry for my poor english.
I had the same problem with OpenOffice 3.1.1 and I found that it does not recognize the 64-bit versions, and even higher than 6.
So I think that you, to use Java in your OO, is forced to install the latest release for version 6.
See you soon and good day. _________________ Core i5 2500 + GA-P67A-UD3-B3 + 2 x 4GB DDR3 + SCSI Adaptec 29160N + SCSI HDD 36GB Cheetah Enterprise + SATA HDD 1TB Barracuda 7200.11

| Java is located at c:\program files\Java\jre6. OOo will not work with Java 7 and also needs the 32bit version. Check Tools---Options--->Openoffice.org----.Java. Make sure that "Use java Runtime Environment" is checked. |

| That is what I have set but under Java runtime environments (JRE) already installed there is nothing there and I can't seem to get anything in there. |

| Did you click the Add button and navigate to c:\program files\Java\jre6? |

Hello Warith
did you solve this problem eventually?
I have 32 bit OO 3.4.0 installed on Windows 7, and 64 bit JRE 7, and I am getting error
"The folder you selected does not contain a Java runtime environment"
I also have JRE 32 bit 1.4.2 but oo does not recognize that either |
