When I try to open a text file in Calc, it defaults to opening it in Writer. Is there any way I can change this default behavior? The reason I opened it in Calc is to edit it in Calc.

You have to open it as type Text CSV. Then, you should be prompted with a few options for opening the file in Calc.

I agree that it should be transparent. Hopefully, this slight usability problem will be corrected in the next version.

I had the same problem. I figured it out after a while but it was a little harder than it needed to be.
