I have already read the previos posts, tried to do what they said, and got nothing.
The document is already typed.
I selected the top row of the document, and clicked Insert > Table of contents. I then selected the chapter headings, clicked "Paragraph style" then selected "Heading 1" from the menu "Next style". I then clicked "Update Index Table" exactly like the instructions say. No index appeared. Please post step by step instructions for creating an index from an existing document. ty |

| Do Insert > Index and Tables > Index and Tables > OK. This assumes your chapter titles use the Heading 1 paragraph style. |
