I've been using this for ages, but suddenly today I can't save a spreadsheet as XLS (97). So very weird! It saves as CSV or OO. Did I inadvertently click on something I shouldn't have?
When I "save as", it seems normal...shows the drop down box and I select Windows 97, XLS, etc. But when I look for the file, it shows as "file" and properties show "CSV".

Put a check mark in Automatic file name extension in the Save as dialog box.
