Without getting asked whether I rilly rilly want to. . . . I can't find any way to change the default save mode. _________________ Roger Downey |

| I think you are going to have to be a little more specific about what you are trying t do. |

Be happy to:
I have a text doc open in Writer. I Save it. Five minutes later I decide I'm through with it for the time being and Save it again from the File dropdown menu. I'm offered the option of "Save a Version . . ." or "Save as . . ." I select "Save as . . ." and when prompted to assign a file-name. Without assigning a new file-name, I click on Save.
A box appears saying "Blahblah.doc already exists. Do you want to replace it?" I click replace.
Is there a way to change default saving so that when I click Save it just saves without getting the prompt box reminding me that if I save with the same filename the present version will overwrite the previous one?

I guess I should say thanks. But just once, if only someone at OOO would answer the question I ask instead of providing me with their opinion on how I could do it better their way.
Anybody out therewilling to answer the question I asked? _________________ Roger Downey |

| I don't know of any program that doesn't prompt you when you save the file. Its trying to keep you from overwriting a file accidentally. This behavior is not unique to OOo. |

Thanks, thomasjk. It's still not an answer, but it explains why there isn't an answer, and that's even better. _________________ Roger Downey |
