|Welcome to the forum.
A combo-box in a Base form document is fully capable of writing data to a fleld in the underlying database table. If the 'List content' property of the box is not set, it will display the content of the field in the database table to which it is bound. Thus, in the case of a new record that field will be empty and if the field is numeric it will default to 0. The list content of a combo-box can be set to display a list of all the current entries for that field in the database, or a more specific selection defined by a Query or by an SQL SELECT statement.
