I have a master spreadsheet which consists of 7 groups which have been defined as ranges. Each range has been selected and copied to its own sheet. So far so good (I hope). What I need to be able to do is that when an item in the master sheet is altered the corresponding item on the individual sheet is also altered. I have struggled with this for a couple of days now and have searched the forum but cannot find the help I need probably because I am probably not searching for the right terminology.

Assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks

No, this is not so far so good. It is a common mistake.
Simply put everything into one table with an extra column for the categories. Let the software do the rest.

If only that was possible - there are over 30,000 lines in the master sheet and it is unmanageable.

Old version of Calc support 65536 rows, recent versions support over a million. Databases handle billions of rows as long as you provide hard disk space.

You do not have to manage that. The software is supposed to do that for you (well, if you know how to utilize it).
Admittedly, a spreadsheet is a suboptimal tool for this, but it can do much better than you do.
