i have tried to copy a formula into an entire column by selecting the column (ie click on D) and pasting .
The programme then closes down! Am i trying the unallowable? _________________ carl

Probably doing something that is unwanted, but I don't know what.
You can't copy 1 (one) formula into an entire column. I tried to do the same but
it pasted the formula into the top-cell of the column.
From there you have to fillout the entire column.
Select the cell with the formula and pull that one down the column
(take it at the right lower bottom of the cell)
This will also make you're formula use the right references.

I put values in A1, B1, C1, and the sum forula in D1. Copied D1 [CTRL-C]. Selected all of column D, and pasted [CTRL-V]. No problem.
