Label making

i want to make sheets of mini labels but I get bogged down for example trying to fit just our address and telephone number into the area provided - I just can't get the words in the right place - very frustrating! i expect it's my ignorance but if anyone can set out a blow-by-blow set of instructions for someone as dim as myself I would be very grateful. Is it just me or is Open Office not too good at this?
