|
|
I want to use a separator in the outline numbering functionality in my TOC. The word "Module" and the appropriate index number shall appear so I filled that in the Separator field "Before" and it works.
Now my problem: Exacetly this text (Module 1, Mpdule 2, etc.) appears also in my text and not only in the TOC. I don't want this within the text only in the TOC.
Any ideas?
Thanks very much,

This can be achieved in OOo. Have your word "Module" added to the TOC rather than to the Outline headings. Deatils: Right-click the TOC and select Edit Index/Table. On the entries tab, you see the sceleton of your TOC presented as gray blocks and white spaces between. This sceleton can be customized for each individual heading level. E# represents the chapter number. Put the cursor in the white space before the #E and add your word Module there. This way, it will appear before the paragraph number in the TOC only.
What is more, you can give it a specific formatting as well. With the cursor in the white field where you entered "Module", select a character style from the Character style drop down. Eventually, you may need to create your own custom character style using the stylist before entering this dialog. Handling of TOC's and indexes is one of the points where Writer really shines. |
