Hello,
You don't say what language you need, but I assume it's English. I'd recommend WordWeb (http://wordweb.info/) dictionary. Once installed, WordWeb can be launched from any application, including OOo. Simply highlight a word and press Ctrl+Alt+W. WordWeb provides a wealth of information such as definitions, synonyms, grammar notes etc.
