Can open office organise outlook express address book groups

I recently reinstalled xp for a friend, I had a backup of the outlook express wab file.
When you import the wab back into OE, the hierarchy of groups/contacts is lost.
It just imports all the contacts into one folder.

Is there an easy way of using open office to create groups for contacts which could be used to send bulk emails/mailing lists etc.?

Can the wab file be imported into open office somehow?

There's about 4500 contacts/email addresses in the wab.
