In MS Office XP, I have created a document that has tables in. With MS Office I have put diagonal lines (from the top left to bottom right) across some of the cells in the table. In other cells there is the "opposite" diagonal line (from bottom left to top right). This means when ever I resize that cell the line through the cell changes too.

Is there any way to do this with OpenOffice? I'm trying to convert all my documents for a project into OO format (as OO is much much easier to work with!). However I need to be able to do this diagonal line trick. I have tried to draw straight lines on, but getting them exactly right is nearly impossible, also if i change the size of a cell the line then has to be changed too. I am a perfectionist - so I like my work to look perfect!

If you know a way I can do this I would love to know. It doesn't have to be using tables - since I'm creating a very large Entity Relationship diagram - any method that allows me to create [i one to many[/i] diagrams would be very useful.

Hi rctmaster100,

Have you tried using Draw? It may not be a capable as Visio or SmartDraw (which I prefer for ERDs), but it will work.
There was a short discussion on creating ERDs with Draw in 2003:

I don't think that I would want to use Draw for a real complex project Wink

I do not think that this feature is present in OOo 1.1.4 (or even 1.9). The feature in MSO to insert diagonal lines is very neat. Why not file an enhncement request with OOo? (sad thing is that it may be too late for it to be included in 2.0).

I too have to prepare some form whit table in it and a diagonal line is to be drwn acrooss a few cells from the top right corner of teh last cell on the right to the bottom left corber of the first cell on the left. What I did was to insert a line (hand drwnh using th draw function in Writer and manually moving it everytime I change the size of that table. tedious Twisted Evil

One trick is that to zoom your Writer document to the largest possible ratio and move the line as accurately to the corners as you could with your mouse.

Good luck and have fun
