How do i turn off highlight text in Text document

When I use a report template produced in MS Word by someone in my School and edit it in Text Document it wont come off highlight text. It even prints in highlighted text. Im sure there is a simple method but dont know how to do it. Can anyone help

Hello,
Here is a simple way to remove highlight:
1) Ctrl-A to select all text
2) Long-Click on the HighLighting toolbar (Pen Icon beside "A" icon) and select "No-Fill"

Note: To Restore Highlighting, Click Undo button.
