embedded audio after exporting to PDF doesn't play back

if I drag an mp3 in Draw or Writer etc and then export the document as PDF, the audio icon is there but can't be clicked on to play back the file. It's just a picture.

How do I make the audio in the pdf clickable so that the audio plays back?

See http://www.adobe.com/designcenter-archive/tutorials/flashpdf/ - it's very likely that the PDF converter in OOo doesn't support audio (yet).

wow that's surprising. So old versions of adobe reader starting from version 7 support this function, correct? I can't afford the new version as I have no money but maybe can get an older version on ebay.
