i am setting up a new computer and installed ooo1.4. Writer only shows the 3 device fonts in win2k. Any idea how I can get it to see all the installed fonts?

Win2k requires a server installation to work properly. Did you use the -net switch for the initial installation as admin and then set up a workstation version from this? If not read the setup guide on the dowmload page and take note of what it says about multi user installations. Even if you are only one user, it still applies on NT4, W2k and XP! _________________ Howard

I'll try that, but on my other machine it installed with no problem without doing this.
Thanks

I found the problem. Windows must have a printer installed for this to work properly.

| You know, this continues to annoy me about many programmes. The WP should decide whaaat the page looks like, then leave it up to the printer driver to manage that somehow. Code that changes appearance on nthe screen depending on what is currently the default printer is just stupid. </generalised rant> |

Bob, I think you are ranting in the wrong direction! As I understand it the WP doesn't need to duplicate routines that should be already available in the OS, just know how to link into them. It would require lots more code (and bugs!); if there's a problem it's due to the way WIndows does things, not OOo.
Can anyone more knowledgable confirm that I am thinking in the right direction? _________________ Howard
