I use OOo Base to connect to FileMaker Pro databases via ODBC. It works, but I experience a very long initial delay (up to 5-7 min). I've already filed the issue at IssueZilla.

Can anyone confirm that?

I'm also interested in getting in contact with other users who work with OOo and FileMaker. It would be nice to share experiences, tips etc.

Kind regards,
Dmitri

I work with both. However, I'm hoping to get rid of the extremely overpriced Filemaker Pro with oOo. So far, it looks like I will be able to. Funny think is, the 1.9.71 build works better than the .74 build.

Anyway, the only think I haven't learned to do was create a Runtime Application from the database I create.

Thanks for your reply. I'd love to switch from FileMaker Pro to OOo Base, but the latter has some serious shotcomings (see my other post http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=16451) - at least for what I do.

Anyway, have you tried to connect OOo Base to FileMaker Pro? Did it work for you?

To answer your question regarding the possibility to create runtimes, I don't think it's possible. I don't think that this feature will be implemented anytime soon, either.

The ODBC conection only works on Windows platforms, which is why I have chucked FMPro for mysql and access that via ODBC from OOo. There are no FMPro ODBC drivers available for free under linux or MacOSX.
