Every time I create a bulleted list, the bullets look great when I create the document and save as .doc. However, when I open the document the bullets are replaced by:

I've looked at Styles and Bullet1 is set at OpenSymbol;Arial Unicode MS. I've tried modifying this but no matter what I do it all changes once I close and reopen the document. I'm using v3.4 on a Mac with Mountain Lion OS - however, this happened with an earlier version. As I rarely used bulleted lists, I didn't bother doing anything about it then.

However, I'm now using bulleted lists for sending out job resumes so I really need a solution, as I've had feed back that my resumes have not been correctly formatted on opening and I've lost out on getting interviews because of it.

I noted a previous entry where someone said you should always save as ODT and convert to PDF to send to other users. However, most of my job applications have specifically requested DOC format and won't accept PDF so that isn't an acceptable solution.

Is there anyway around this using OO Writer? Or do I have to look further afield at other software?

If you want perfect doc format then you probably need to use the software most associated with it. It must be a very very busy tetchy personnel department that won't open .pdf's.

More then one, Robert, more then one. I guess corporations have so many people applying for jobs these days, they can afford to make whatever rules they wish.

Thanks for your response.

Nobody seems to be able to help KazBe with his/her problem. I have the same problem. All bullets in a MS Word file show up as that character displayed in the original post here. I found a MacTips forum that suggested sticking a Windows symbol.ttf font inside the OO fonts folder. That seemed to work for me last night, but, not this morning. Last night I opened up the original Word file and the bullets were fine. This morning, no go. They're still those weird characters.
