OOo 1.0.2 won't save my settings

OOo 1.0.2 won't save my custom margins, tabs, or anything else I change except for the
font.

Anyone know how to save settings or is this a bug?

In this respect, OOo works similarly to Word. You need to use a custom template in order to start with customized settings for a new document. Create a new doc, change anythig like you want it to be and then save as a template in one of your template directories. Then, in File Templates Organize, find the template you just saved in the left box and use the Commands button (Commands -Set as default template) to make OOo Writer use your settings as default.

The problem I'm having is that when I save a document with custom settings
and then open it later to work on it again, all of my settings except for the
font are gone. I have to reset my margins, tabs, and everything else for
the same document that was saved.

I'll try making a template and see if that solves the problem.

Save the document with your changes as a new template. Then make that template the default template. That should work.
