Using Calc I tried to set up a sheet which just had the half hours down col A and the days of the week across the top. I had switched on the border print. I want the print area to take up all of the paper. I therefore made it bigger than A4 paper and insisted that the print area be reduced down to fit one page of A4 size. I wanted the cells to be a big as possible but for the days and times to just fit. The days of the week and the times are so small that they are unreadable. How can I make them readable again.

| How about making the columns read Mon, Tue, Wed ... instead of Monday, Tuesday, Wed...? That would allow bigger font size, right? |

Could you give a clue as to column /row width/height you chose please? I'll try to emulate it. just playing around, I made up a sheet that may be similar. I used a font size of Arial 36; day row1 height 0.36", width 3.97"; time rows height 1.94", width 2.32" to accommodate the font. This seemed t0 look OK, but I did only 10 rows, on A4 paper portrait setting, ...Fit to the page.

OK, here's the problem [I think]: You want to keep the same amount of information, but retain the proportions. The fact that you want so many rows gives the problem. So ...
1. Widen your boarders to accommodate. I use 0.25" left and right,; 0.5" top; 0.625" bottom.
2. Widen your columns to 4.75".
At least, that is what I did and it works just fine. Also adjust the font size as already suggested.

P.S. If anyone knows of any way to select row/column sets and cause all to change size simultaneously as you change one, I'd appreciate knowing. It may be having to press a CTRL key or something, but that should be unnecessary; all having been selected, all should change as you adjust the one in the selection.

If you select all the columns , put the cursor in the "a,b,c" area
(sorry I dont know a name for it)
and move the cursor to the right edge of a column until a line with two arrows appears ,
-double click - all columns are optimally sized if there is content in them or otherwise the default size is chosen.
or
-drag the column wider or narrower - all selected widen narrow together
This works for rows too. _________________ carl

Thanks, Carl. I've done that. The problem is that sometimes the magic works and sometimes it doesn't. I've selected a set and ccuased a change, and the change occurred only to the one, nto the set, causing my query. However, I did find a solution: Select the columns or rows, and right mouse height will allow you to set a value which affects all those selected with no problem. It's quite fast enough a process to use all the time.
