| I've been using StarOffice for some time now and have recently become interested in trying OpenOffice.org. Does anyone know if it's possible to have both StarOffice and OpenOffice.org installed on one system? I don't want my StarOffice installation to break as a result of installing OOo. Thanks. |

I do not see any problems in it. If it does not work, simply uninstall it.
Make sure you back up all your important data. But I am sure you do that anyway, right _________________ member of these boards: Duran Duran PHPbb and AntiOnline |

| I used to have both OOo and SO5.2 in the same harddisk under Win98 (in seperate folders) before I uninstalled SO5.2 after having satisfied that OOo is much stable then its predecessor. Sadly I have to re-install SO5.2 just to get few of my old WordPerfect documents converted to OOo. After that I just dumped SO5.2 aside and never go back to it. |

Yeah, it is definitely possible to have multiple versions of OpenOffice running on the same machine. I did some compatibility test using StarOffice 5.2, StarOffice 6.0 Beta, OpenOffice 1.0.3 and OpenOffice 1.1 Beta... all works well.
Just make sure you install each of them in a different home directory. And if you're using Windows, make sure only one instance of the Quick Starter is enabled (i.e. either enable SO6.0 or SO5.2... never both)
