can oo read a wps file (works)

have been e mailed a wps file and need to open it have searched the web but can not find a way to open it on win98 can oo open it and if so how as i have tried but none of the converters seem to work

OOo do not have a wps filter. As reported by some forum users here, MS Word don't even have a wps filter!. So the only solution would be to open the wps in MS Works and then save it as .doc or any other common format like rtf, then open it from OOo again.

@chadpage: Ed wrote in his post (first link of cwchia) that OOo 2.0 will have wps support. Maybe you should check if OOo 2.0 can do what you want.

Ii have 1.9.109 and I get a I/O error. I am using win98 also and have been emailed a wps file. Anything else?

There are converters available that will convert works to word, at which point you can then use OOo. Theses are available from the MS Website.

A works import feature would be nice but I have seen no projects aiming at it... so, go for Ian's advice.

I don't know if StarOffice can import files from Works?
