Continue an interrupted numbered list

I'm an OpenOffice newbie using OOWriter 1.1.2 on RedHat Enterprise.

I have a numbered list (using Outline format)

1 A heading in style Heading 1
(some text in default style)
2 Another heading in style Heading 1
(some more text in default)
(X) A sub-heading of 2, in style Heading 2.

(X) is coming up "1.1". I want it to be "2.1" without manually setting the style to start at "2". How can I do that? Can I link one numbered list to a previous one, as I can in MS Word?
