is there a way to change the colour scheme of open office? it think the colour (in windows OOo 1.9) is very old fashion looking and dosnt do the new program any justice!

This can be done in Tools > Options, OpenOffice.org > Colors (sic).
It depends upon your desktop environment for what OOo looks like. I don't think it looks bad under Win2k or KDE 3.3.2. Under Win98SE it does look a little wrong at times. It is better integrated under Gnome than any of the others (I think). _________________ Arch Linux
