5-23-05

If I cut and paste a Word.doc or web material into OOo, when I "Save As", the dialog box appears, but as soon as I start typing a name in the File Name box, the program freezes.

This just began a few days ago. I have not added any new software, to the computer.

I am running a P5-A mobo with a 500 MHz AMD KII-5. I use v. 1.1.4. I have patched the program with the sot645mi.dll. I had been using the program for some time without any problems. (Except for numbering pages, as yet I cannot seem to learn that.), before this began to occur.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program twice. The first time I thought maybe it was the patch, so I left the old dll file in the program. Did not help, still froze. The second round of uninstall-reinstall I patched program.

I have also installed and tried the 1.9 (2.0 beta) - same problem, so I have to believe my machine is the cause. The question is WHY, suddenly does this occur

I have no idea why this is occurring now after months of no problem.

If I take the Word.doc file and use the Send To menu to open it, it will freeze the 1st time. Then I use the three-fingered salute to end the program. Now if I use Send To, to open the file, Save As works fine, I can type in a name for the file and save it in any file format OOo allows.

So at the moment the only way I can use the program is to save it as a Word.doc. Open the Word.doc with the Send To menu, try to save it, it freezes, use the three fingered salute to get out of it, re-open with the Send To menu and save it in the format of my choice - usually OOo.swx

Anyone else ever have a problem with this? Help

Your OS perhaps? This would be more expected if it's Windows.

Sorry, I failed to mention it when I ran down my hardware. My OS is Windows. Windows 98 SE.

Even so, I have been learning and using OOo for a number of months. The problem arose just recently.

To be complete, it occurs even when opening a native OOo format as ".sxw".
