Hi,
in my humble opinion OO calc us a very good spreadsheet and his most advantage that's freeware but it has some limitations compared to the others.
Sometimes i need to insert in a xy char the values with related error magnitude but i found out to do this only for y axis (data series -> statistics -> error indicator).
Is there any way to have this feature (ms excel can do that)?
In regression line menu can I obtain the slope and intercept value or polynomial regression coefficients and formula printed in the graph?

| The charting feature of OOo Calc is currently not up to standards. Developpers are well aware of that. The situation seems to be such that the charting functionality is being redesigned and reprogrammed from scratch. It was originally planned to implement the new charting implementation in version 2, but the developpers could not make that happen. Thus, iunfortunately, we will have to continue a while with the current charting options, which are indeed too limited for many scientific needs. There are some great open source alternatives for creating high publication quality scientific graphs, but they require mastering a command language and thus have a steep earning curve. I am thinking of GNUPlot and R (search for R Cran). |

Respectfully, no spreadsheet is all things to all people, no matter how useful or advanced it is in functionality. You might also find that others also have their limitations. If doing mathematics, why not use some dedicated mathematics software? More specific to the task at hand, they are often to your advantage, and there are some powerful programs out there. Some have been already mentioned in past similar discussions. They vary between freeware and highly professional and so fairly expensive. That depends upon individual needs, but definitely worth a good look around.
Sorry, but I'm thinking in terms of available Windows programs, and am not aware of the available possibilities for Linux. There is also excellent math software available for the Mac.
