|
|
I'm finishing a 42 page document for one of my college classes.
I would like to add a table of contents to make it look nice.
I googled and found this url

Create A Table-of-Contents
Headings can be used to create a Table-Of-Contents.
1.
Click on the first line of the document, just before the words “My Classes”. (The flashing cursor appears just before the letter “M”.)
2. Click Insert > Indexes & Tables > Indexes & Tables. (The “Insert Index/Table” window appears.)
3. Select the Index/Table tab if it is not already selected. In the “Type” pull down menu select Table-of-Contents if it is not already selected. Click OK.

Once I did this and wanted to create an entry, it added like 5 lines of the same entry.
Is there an easier/better way to do this? I seem to
remember that MS Office had an easy way to do this...
thanks |

| For most of us, it works correctly. Make sure you apply styles carefully. Anything formatted with one of the Heading styles (Heading 1 through Heading 10) will be considered a heading and be incorporated into the TOC. So make sure your titles are the only paragraphs formatted with heading styles. |
