|
|
According to the FAQ (question 37), one may insert certain special characters using compose sequences. However, I can find no enumeration of what the compose sequences are. Searching the application FAQ, the online documentation, and this forum have all proved fruitless. Is this feature active, and if so, how do I use it?
I know I can use the Insert menu and the pick a special character, but that's absurdly slow for serious use.
I'm using OOo 1.0.3 on Windows 2000. I've played a bit with the language settings under Tools -> Options to no avail. For what little it's worth, I'm specifically interested in French language characters. |

I think this should work in Win2k :
Press and hold ALT then use your keypad to type th following numbers: '0198' (without the quotes) your will get the special character of 'Æ'. However this solution is only available to the ANSCII characters as I can see.
You may also learn the corresponding numbers from them Insert-Special Character... dialog, the numbers are shown in a bracket below the preview of the special character, just add a 0 at th begining.
This method works for all (all that I've tried) programmes since Win3.1 till Win98.
By the way anyone know whether it is possible to insert the other special characters defined under unicode by using similar keyboard combination? |

if it is accents you are after, the following sequence should work:
ctrl+alt+e or altgr e will give you é. not sure about other characters.
(for Ooo running under windows) |

Insert special chars
The ALT+number is known all right but what is to be done along these lines:
| Quote: | | You may also learn the corresponding numbers from them Insert-Special Character... dialog, the numbers are shown in a bracket below the preview of the special character, just add a 0 at th begining |
If I press the key U first of all I get several U's so U must be stabding here for some control key. But which?
Thanks. |
