|
|
The OpenOffice program works fine on my computer. There is one problem that I have noticed. After I installed OpenOffice there has been a problem with programs crashing on my computer.
For example, if I have have a text document open in OpenOffice my computer works fine for maybe an hour or two. But after a while my Netscape Browser will quit functioning and crash. Basically, all of the programs that I have open on my computer will freeze up. The Windows OS program itself won't freeze up or anything.
It just appears that the OpenOffice program is a bit unstable. I am using OpenOffice ver. 1.1.
It may be that I need to use an earlier, more stable version.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what might be causing the problem?
Thanks.

You are perfectly right - version 1.1 is still not released as stable. _________________ BertoldK |

According to the OpenOffice.org web site version 1.1 is supposed to be stable.
I just retrieved the following from the OpenOffice.org web site:
"Latest Build: OpenOffice.org 1.1rc3 This release candidate provides new features and enhancements for everyone's everyday use. It is stable and revolutionary."
Are they saying that it is stable when they have not yet tested it's stability?

By definition, a release marked RC (release candidate) is not quite ready for final release. The problem you are seeing sounds serious, so I would submit a defect. If the problem is widespread (rather than being a function of something in your particular environment), it should be addressed before the RC becomes a full release.

BertoldK, keithlancaster;
Thank you for the help.
It is a serious problem. I was planning on putting together a teaching manual and providing training services to local small businesses. Guess I'll have to alter my plans.
Thanks again.
Best Regards;
