Hi Guys,
I have downloaded the English (Australian) dictionary, My speel checker is working perfectly but I do nothave a thesaurus.
Can I rename the English US thesaurus so that the program thinks it is an english (Australian) version??
that way I do not have to swap langauge setting everytime i need the thesaurus function.?? |

Thanks 8 days...
I didn't actually use the GB thes, instead I used the guidelines provided in the read me file to modify the dictionary.lst file so that it thinks the us thes is an Australian one. then I renamed the idx and dat files accordingly.
worked sweet |

Does the thesaurus work for versions 1.9xx and 2.0 RC?
When I check it in Tools-> Language Settings -> Writing Aids, the icon is still faded out and not lit.
my computer is set to region Australia but ooo only has the US version so I'm trying to set it to US.

Donki,
in the program files\Openofficeorg\share\dict directory, rename the US thesaurus from en_US to en_AU the open the dictionary.lst file with notepad and change the referance to the en_US thesaurus to en_AU so the it corresponds with the name change you just did. then go into Open office tools>options> language settings and change them to english (australian).
that should work
use the link provided 8daysaweek.co.uk a a guide aswell. |

In Tools-> options -> language, it now shows English (Australia) after doing those changes.
but the icon is still faded out.

yeah you have to do it with open office closed, then re-open.
Also for those interested, this procedure also works with OOo ver 2 RC1 |

Great. It's a start for the new version, although I think a localized GB version is being released for v2
