|
|
I have installed OpenOffice for some of the computers in our Network (all of these PCs are still using Win98 OS). After installation, some of them have file association problem (eg. when the MS Words document is send using MS Outlook 97/98, they cannot double click the attachment to open the document in OpenOffice.) There is always an error when try to open the file in Outlook.
But after my user save the file to their My Document folder they can open from there.
What is wrong? I remember that I have tick the open MS Office document type during OpenOffice setup phrase.
Please help. |

So far as I know the only solution is to re-associate
doc, dot, xls, xlt, pps, ppt etc. file types with MS.
Way 1. (win98) Open Explorer, click View or Tools, click Folder settings (I hope my translation back to English is OK), click File types, select file type, click Edit, again click Edit, click Browse, find the application and so on.
Way 2. (win98) Open Explorer, find a file which you want to re-associate, left click it, hold down Shift and right click, chose Associate (I hope my translation back to English is OK), choose application and so on.
A bit boring, particularly on several machines, but I hope someone will suggest a more elegant way. |
