using impress RC3, if I insert a PDF into a slide via a the Edit->object->plug-in menu, while in edit mode you can easily see the PDF as expected, however if I switch to slideshow mode I only get the plug-in placeholder. Is there any way to actaully see the object rather then the placeholder in slideshow mode?

I was looking through the impress mailing list archives, and it would appear that plug-ins in impress have been written off as not being an important feature. Is this true? if so why is the menu option left in? I hope that this is not true as the inability to insert plug-ins into my presentation would keep me from using impress and would leave me stuck with PowerPoint.
