I have a folder called: OpenOfficeOrg 2.0 Installation Files. It is 77 MB in size.
This is separate from the program itself. So I have wondered if I can delete this folder with no adverse reactions.
When I downloaded, I saved the file in a folder instead of placing it on the desktop. Wondering if this is what would have been placed on the desktop if I had so opted.
Thanks.

Yes, you may delete this directory. It is simply the extracted contents of the self extractor. _________________ Arch Linux

9Point9,
This directory contains Setup and I believe the files necessary to do a Modify or Repair. It has been my habit to leave it in place. On the other hand, OOo2 copies files to some other locations and perhaps this isn't necessary.
I would be interested in others' opinions on this question as I'm not sure of the best approach.

I think Window Installer needs the setup files to modify / repair the installed OOo, just like the MS Office installer. I keep my MS Office setup files on my drive so I dont need to find my CD every time I update MSO.
I needed the setup files once, after removing StarOffice 8 from this pc. I guess OOo setup had to reconfigure some file associations and registry settings. _________________ www.kaaredyret.dk - OpenOffice resources (templates, extensions, tutorials and more) !

Seemingly only for Windows XP. Under Win2K and 98SE I've never run into this problem, it has always uninstalled without asking. I would suspect that it is a new feature of the MS Installer which doesn't get used correctly. _________________ Arch Linux
