I think it is a french grammar rule to insert a space before ? ! ; and : I however, am trying to use the program in English. Nonetheless, ending a sentence with those punctuation marks above causes Writer to insert a space before my punctuation, which I can then go back and delete.

I cannot find a setting in options to deactivate this feature and my language settings appear to be in English in the options menu. Anyone know the way to fix this?

This feature is not activated by default, you need to use the extension I think. So the only fix is to deactivate the extension when writing in English or to add a button that stops the listener and another one to reactivate it on demand. See here for more information: [Writer] Espaces insécables avant ponctuation.
